6:30 AM - 7:45 AM
2:30 PM - 6:30 PM

The St. Ann Extended Day Program will operate on school days when school is in session.  Weather or other emergencies, which causes school to be cancelled, will also result in canceling the Extended Day Program.

If school is dismissed at 11:30 because of a teacher institute, holiday or other special occasion such as Special Persons Day, the Extended Day Program will operate until 6:30 PM.  On these days children should bring a lunch and plenty of snacks for the entire day.  A change of clothing is also recommended.

What does extended day services cost?

ALL FEES ARE BILLED WEEKLY AND ARE SEPARATE FROM TUITION

Hourly Fee: $3.00 per child and $1.50 per half hour or less.

Fees are the sole support of the St. Ann Extended Day Program. The program is not subsidized by the school or by the parish.

Statements are sent home on Monday and must be paid by Friday.  Statements are for a one-week period.  A late fee of $2.00 will be assessed for each week that is 2 weeks overdue.

Regular and prompt payment of fees enables us to pay salaries and provide ample supplies and equipment.  If a parent fails to pay fees as scheduled, the child will not be permitted to continue in this program.

A $25.00 charge will be assessed for all returned checks.  Two NSF checks will result in requiring any future payments to be made in cash or money order.

REPORT CARDS AND/OR TRANSFER PAPERS WILL BE HELD IF FEES ARE NOT CURRENT BY THE LAST DAY OF THE SCHOOL YEAR.

Please note:  Staff members are employed until 6:30 PM.  Children must be picked up by that time. There will be an additional fee of $10.00 per staff member for every fifteen minutes you are late in picking up your children.  There are always two staff members on duty until all children have been picked up.

IMPORTANT PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Emergencies & Safety

With the children's safety and well-being in mind.  It is most important that the parent fill out an emergency card and then adhere to the instructions given.  PLEASE KEEP YOUR CHILD'S EMERGENCY INFORMATION CURRENT.

Children being dropped off in the morning should report to the Park Avenue (P2) entrance where they are to be signed in by a staff person.

One of the most important regulations concerns the children leaving the premises of the Extended Day Program.

If your child attends extracurricular activities, a permission slip will be required.  The Extended Day staff assumes responsibility from them only after they have returned from the activity and are signed in.

Children who are not picked up after school or an activity, i.e., Spanish, Choir, Girl Scouts, etc., will be checked into the program 5 minutes after their dismissal.  THIS IS FOR SAFETY REASONS.  You will be billed accordingly.

If a child is to leave with anyone other than a parent or designated person responsible for pick-up, a parental note is required, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Parents or guardians should not take children from the schoolyard or other areas without notifying the Extended Day Program staff and signing the child out.

Extended Day Program personnel will not permit children to leave in taxies presumably sent by parents.

Parents or guardians should not send persons whose names are not on the emergency card to ask for release of the children.  For the child's safety the release will not be granted.  In a special circumstances a parent or guardian may arrange for such a pick-up by sending written authorization to the staff.  Within such a letter, the name of the person temporarily authorized to take the child from the premises should be included.  Persons not known to the staff shall be required to provide a driver's license (with photo) or photo identification card issued by the Illinois Secretary of State or the Indiana Secretary of State to establish their identity prior to a child's release to them.

Another area of concern related to the child's welfare is the matter of telephone messages.

Parents or guardians may wish to telephone the Extended Day Program asking that their child be directed to go to various places after school.  As there is always the possibility that the person other than a parent or guardian might telephone, such requests will not be granted.

With the same potential problem in mind, Extended Day program staff will not accept a telephone request to call a cab for a child.

Staff members are employed until 6:30 PM.  It is common courtesy to respect the time of closure.  Staff members will stay with your child until you arrive, but a late fee will be assessed as specified previously.

SPECIAL PROVISIONS AND PROCEDURES

Illness or Accident

In cases which appear to be minor in nature, first aid will be administered on the premises.  (Medication will not be administered by mouth unless both a written statement from a physician detailing method, amount and time schedule, AND a written statement from the parent or guardian authorizing the staff to assist a child in taking such medication are on file.)

In cases which appear serious, the Extended Day Program staff will make an effort to carry out the instruction as given on the emergency card.

Parents who do not wish their child treated in any way should indicate such on their emergency card, and should give  directions to be followed in the space, "Special Instructions".

Parents will be expected to make provisions for taking sick children home.

If a parent does not supply adequate emergency instructions, or if the instruction given cannot be followed at the time of the emergency, the Extended Day Program staff will act according to their best judgment for the welfare of the child.

Homework

Each afternoon a homework period is scheduled with the staff available to provide assistance.  It is the child's responsibility to acknowledge his/her assignments and then to use the resources available.  This staff has no way of knowing what work, if any, has been assigned to which students.

Snack

Children may bring a snack or sandwich and drink if they wish.  Pop machines are available at 50¢ per can for 2nd grade through 8th grade.  On early dismissal days, student MUST bring their lunch.
HOT LUNCH WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE WHEN SCHOOL IS DISMISSED AT 11:30 AM.

Toys from Home

We ask that children not bring toys from home.  If your child wishes to do so you are required to sign a permission slip, which also relieves the Extended Day Program from responsibility of lost or stolen items.

Expectations for Child's Behavior

As members of a Christian and caring community the children will be expected to respect the staff, each other, and the materials and environment provided.  They must NEVER leave the building or grounds without permission of the staff of Extended Day.

Termination of Services

The services provided by the Extended Day Program may be terminated for the following reasons:

  • abuse of programs hours
  • non-payment or chronic late payment of program fees
  • failure to an adult or child to respect the safety and rights of others in the program
  • chronic disruptive behavior such as physical assault on staff members or other students (hitting, kicking, biting); possession of a controlled substance; foul, disrespectful, or abusive language; theft; disrespect and disobedience
  • Failure to adhere to guidelines set forth within the handbook

Services will be terminated after consultation with the school principal.

Cancellation of services will be given one week written notice.
